On the eve of Thanksgiving, my family and I wish all of you the very best. Thanksgiving is a uniquely American holiday, when families and friends come together to celebrate and express gratitude for the things that enrich our lives. I am especially thankful for all of the new friends we have made in Taiwan since our arrival. I am also thankful for my fine colleagues at AIT, all of whom work so hard to make sure our relationship with Taiwan remains robust and fruitful.
Some of my fondest memories of my youth involve Thanksgiving family get-togethers in Minnesota. We were an immigrant family, so we knew little of turkey, sweet potatoes, and pumpkin pie. Instead, we were more likely to feast on roast squab, poached flounder, and bird’s nest soup. But just like other American families, we shared the joy of being in each other’s company and a day off from work and school. Do you have good memories of observing Thanksgiving in the United States? If so, please share your experiences. I would enjoy reading them. Happy Thanksgiving!….km
